💔 The Day Everything Changed
In mid-2025, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.
I remember staring at the test results, feeling a mix of fear and confusion. How did this happen? What do I do now? Will I need insulin forever?
I downloaded every diabetes app I could find. They showed me numbers—beautiful graphs, daily averages, trend lines. But none of them answered the question that kept me up at night:
"Why did my blood sugar spike after that meal? Why do some nights destroy my morning readings? Why does exercise sometimes help and sometimes make things worse?"
The apps showed what was happening. Nobody explained why.
😤 The Frustration
My doctor visits were 15 minutes long. I'd come with a list of questions and leave with more confusion. "Eat less carbs, exercise more, take your medication." Generic advice that didn't account for my unique body.
I tried everything:
- CGM apps that showed graphs but no insights
- Diet trackers that counted calories but not glucose impact
- Fitness apps that didn't know I had diabetes
- Sleep trackers that existed in their own silo
None of them talked to each other. None of them connected the dots.
🔧 The Engineer's Response
I've spent 25+ years in technology. I studied at IIT Madras. I worked at JPMorgan Chase, Deutsche Bank, Morgan Stanley—building systems that analyzed millions of data points to find patterns humans couldn't see.
When I looked at my diabetes data, I realized: I could apply the same approach here.
What I Started Doing
I began correlating my glucose readings with my sleep data (Google Fit), my activity (Strava), my meals, my stress levels. Manually at first—spreadsheets, notes, lots of late nights.
Patterns emerged that no app had ever shown me:
- 7+ hours of sleep = stable fasting glucose
- 15-minute post-dinner walk = no nighttime spike
- Stress before meetings = glucose climbed even without eating
- Rice at lunch affected me differently than rice at dinner
These weren't generic tips from the internet. These were my patterns. My body.
🏗️ Building My Health Gheware
I built a tool for myself. Then my wife started using it. Then friends with diabetes asked for it.
The results surprised even me:
My Time in Range: 58% → 74%
Not through extreme diets. Not through willpower. Through understanding what my body was telling me.
That's when I knew: others need this too.
My Health Gheware isn't just another diabetes app. It's the tool I wished existed when I was diagnosed—something that connects glucose, sleep, activity, nutrition, and stress to show you the why behind your numbers.
📜 Background
My technical background helps me analyze data, but it's my lived experience with diabetes that drives everything I build.
